In other countries in the world, people give not only chocolate but other presents to show their love and say thank you to the people they love.

The tradition of Valentine’s Day comes from third century Rome. At the time, there were many wars and a lot of soldiers had to go to battle.,. But when the soldiers left their loved ones behind, their morale went down so the government prohibited people from falling in love. But a priest called Valentine chose to marry couples in secret. Unfortunately the government found out about the secret marriages so they killed Valentine on February 14, in the year 273. But people still remember his name today and celebrate love every year thanks to him.
